There is this German (?) guy, I had his card in my wallet for years now, but have just thrown it away last month  Sad

But I have seen him at the Bugshow in Brustem so he's still around. Shouldn't be to hard to track him down.

is this not something i can do myself?
it seems so easy to go from 6 to 4 cylinders on a monster tach. couldn't be that much harder on a porsche tachometer, right?

having it done is pretty expensive here and i already have taken the gauge apart...

p.s. do 911 tachometer suffer from a bouncing needle as well??

Why would I? It's not like they're the same.

I'll practise my german skills today and call him tomorrow then, I guess. Thanks!

4 cylinder tachs only go to 7 grand and have a redline in the 5,000 range. Weak Wink

you got that right Wink

didn't someone mention he drilled a hole in a 911 tach and converted it?
i've already got the ring and glass of. i reckon 3 screws and it's open. if it's a matter of rewiring, i should be a DIY job, or am i mistaken?  Undecided

zach, do you know if a 911 tachometer suffers a bouncing needle as well? 914s do...

Diederick, you can also try Tacho Thomas < http://www.tacho-thomas.de > in Germany.
His work is really nice, as you can see under "Tachometer und Instrumente" and "Einzelstücke".

He is doing a 8000 rpm razoredge revcounter for me, because the scale of my original one ends at 6000 rpm. I can highly recommend him.
Cheers,

Georg

Not sure. I know the 356 tach in the Slingle Cab is a bouncy one... but I kind of like it Smiley

AssHull took apart his 68-69 911 tach last night and the switch from 4 to 6 wasn't exactly self explanitory. He's going to drop it off to a gauge place in Phoenix for the conversion.

The place in Phoenix wanted $250 for the conversion! That was more than the tach!! We're going to give North Hollywood a jingle...
