Its truly a sad day today as one of the nicest bugs in Norway burned down last night...
Morten in DKL experienced the worst, as he recently finished his beautiful '65 with a super 2276 oxy to then experience this.
Keep your cars safe and insurances in order guys!

My thoughs are with you Morten, and you know how to find me if you need a hand in the future.

What an absolute nightmare, sorry to see that. Hopefully this wont put Morten off playing with VWs. What a shitty way to see your car end up.  Embarrassed

A sad day, but is it the same car?

Doesn't look like an oxyboxer, and the wheels aren't the same (nor the same stud pattern)

The fire started in the middle of the night and nobody was in the building.... so 7 cars... a gocart and lots of other stuff got burnt, but luckily nobody got hurt..

Morten is already thinking about his next project but because tools and at place to work on it is gone i think scc is the next plan ant then use the autumn/winter on finding a new project..

The car is the same... the wheels was off because he changed the tires in the front... and he used adapters wide five to 5-130... and also the engine is a 2276 oxy.... picture of it before the fire:

Very sad. Thankfully, no one was in the building.

I'm a little surprised that the case didn't catch fire. Was it Aluminum?

A WBX engine case is Al.
If the trans case didn't burn, the internals should be ok.  I'd swap the castings, though.

Similar thing happened to a friend this weekend - some idiots stole her bug from outside her house and went joyriding, before setting the thing on fire. The car wasn't in the same league as Morten's, but still a shitty thing to happen.

Fire is what I fear most! My workshop is not around the corner so I can't have an eye on my car all the time. I really don't like to think about what can happen...
