As there were some disagreements on the '67 thread and someone suggested that a '64 is better, I decided a vote was in order Grin

I'll start it off with the mighty '67

I personally love the 58->61 models (with sunroof)...
I prefer the European model because of the semaphores, but the USA models are great too...

 No I didn't... I have a '51 and a '67 (model 68) and I didn't vote 51 or 68, but 58... (the reason why, see some posts above)

I like 67's, but if I am to be picky they have too large windows. Don't like the way the front window goes too far into the roof and the panel behind the hood. But that's a matter of taste..
I vote for the 58-64 models. They have more of the original design and are just perfect for the cal treatment in my opinion.

2007 is a head of us, and 1965 is underrated.....all the good stuff and a lot of window!!!

One thing thou....I think split, oval, 58-64, 65, 66-67, 68-70, 70- and Superbeetle would be better...........just my 2 cents.......

No one likes the 57 apparently, i thought they looked much like the 56 but I guess I'm wrong. Or maybe no one owns one.
I'm with you SOB on what year is best, those years are cool!

I was going to do that, but then i thought that people would want there individual year.

you can't please everyone, personally I like to please myself when no one else is looking Grin

yeah, 67-Heaven Smiley

Personally I dont't think there is something like 'the ultimate year'.
Basically earlier cars look better and are better quality in production.
Later cars have less things to modify.
For me it's cool to hot-rod each model-year of a bug.
I chose the one I already have and restored earlier - that is a 1302.
But If I'd start again I'd by the car in the best possible shape rather than older, but crappy.
Money saved on full, pro resto I'd put into hod rodding Smiley

Voted 67 though I got a 66, but I'm very fond of a 67 with metal sliding sunroof and 'vert decklid, Lucas and alll!!!

I guess it all depends on what you have in your garage or what you wish you had, no?  Grin

as i am a type 3 owner i must say a 66 model. the model that had all the right things on it. all the special editions and the introduction of the fastback of course.

and as is widely know type 3 are better than type 1   Grin Grin Grin and therefore they addapted the 67 model more to the type 3 when the wolfsburg guys saw what a beaty they had created. LOL

as for a ghia; the 66 model is also a special version with the special trim on the dash. very stylish also.
