The Schleys had a wall painted by Ron Petro. It took Ron 7 weeks to complete the task! Artwork is about 6 foot/1.80m wide.
Second picture shows part of the collection. That's Christelle (Kiki) on the left, Fabien's wife. They both came along.

Paul and Mark recently found a box full of contingency programs/stickers/etc., still in their envelops. Most of these NHRA envelops were never opened! There are some extremely cool NOS stickers in there (EMPI Power Rules, Lee Filters, Eelco, E-T Mags...)
And finally, a great surprise: Paul & Mark gave me a huge framed poster of the VW article, which was published in HOT ROD Magazine in 2007. WOW!
Thanks for the visit, guys! You rule!

Here's a screen shot of a video of Numidia Dragway in Pennsylvania from the 1970s.  I don't know anything about the car — maybe someone here has seen it?

Yes it looks like that could be it.  Too bad the names are hard to read from the 1/4 panel; I would be interested to know where the car was based out of.

Here's the link to the video:  <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/-D_z1Zy5aRo" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/-D_z1Zy5aRo</a>

And new bonnet (hood) and rechopped the roof (different angle to the roof line) and added chrome trim to the sides… I think it's a different car altogether, but I may be wrong.

The hood is definitely odd, or appears that way.  It does look like there are enough differences to be another car.  The quality of the video certainly doesn't help.

Thanks for the info Fabs and Uncle Keith.  What about the "Virginia" car under the Zonker?  It sorta does/doesn't look like a chop top.

Anyhow...just a curiosity about the car on the video because of being my "home" track and the rarity of hot rod and drag VWs in the area back then.  This isn't SoCal, you know...

Not sure where to put these pictures, so here ya go...
Visited with Paul & Mark Schley yesterday and watched Mike Walraven's new Gasser movie. AMAZING! I was just blown away by the quality of the movie, the footage, the interviews...
The 2nd picture shows a poster made by the Schleys, featuring the cover of the DVD.

Dear Stephane,
Thx for the kind words about the movie Smiley
