Hi Roland
I saw your topic on early bay.
Congratulation on your new toy.
I have tried differentt wheels on my 69 eb, even tried the enkei's in photoshop.
Wheels can make or break a car, so it's a hard choice, I still don't know which one to chose.

If it was up to me the wheels should ad some realism to the rest of the car... but the current repro wheels don't do that at all... (unless you refinish them)
If you are going for slot mags on this one, get some real ones...

Has your car got beam adjusters, or just dropped spindles? Stance is nice

The car is featured in VWSPEED magazine, and it says it has an adjustable beam.
Roland will correct me,if I'm wrong.
And indeed,great stance.

adj beam and spindles, both... need the spindles for the ride and the adj beam for the fine tweak
oh and it's a nos vw beam with a sway-a-way welded, you won't have me buying a shitty puma beam...
Still haven't see that article btw...

Now that the thread is up and running about my project, and its moving towards completion you can see why I have been taking such a an interest in your car. I needed to take the pics as reference material

Soo i'm not really going to make a new post for this since it's not really cal-look (still it's from cali..) but here's the tow-car:
Plans: Lower, 1915 engine, wheels and Z-Bed conversion... should be fun!
Ohhhh.... ... Original early deluxe bay with walkthrough.... *drooling* That is NOT a tow-car, it's the unicorn of bay buses
Degrading it to a tow car is like hoodride people making a rust bucket out of a perfect cal look bug.
Roland, forget about the wheels, sell that bus to me instead and you can race against it at SCC09
My dream is a bus just like that, all stock but with a serious engine, but buses like these are impossible to come by, at least in Scandinavia. My main goal for 2009 is to get that perfect bus so I can drive it to SCC09, race it and camp in it

Hard to come by? I did not know that. My friend has a '69 Deluxe, original paint (white/blue), with walk-thru. It's nice... for a bay
Ohh and he was talking about making it a tow car the other day, too!!

roland why are you racing with your eyes closed?
? in the second pic it shows you clearly with your eyes closed. did you drive Lee's buggy also with your eyes closed when we were at SCC?

That's exactly what Mags said to me tonight too! Same advice from two orange bug racers - it can't be wrong
Those are very rare buses up here in Norway, so I guess I have to ship one in from the US then, when the dollar weakens... Come on financial crisis, do your thing!
And now, back to our regular programming...

small update on the "tow car"..
It's now equipped with 4 porsche 944 disc brakes, 1915 engine with engle 110 cam, 40idf webers, full flow, etc. Sitting on 4 real gas-burners (the ones that were on Xav's sepia brown) and I also have a westfalia tow-hitch that can pull 1200kg according to the id plate... should be nice
