After sitting under a cover un loved for too long I got time and motivation to work on it again, one thing i didn't like was the multi coloured " black & white taxi" look with mixed white and carbon so decided to paint some of it so it was all white again, more of that later

Whilst i had it apart to do some prep and paint on the carbon panels I could see some places that i figured could be improved on weight wise so the weight loss program continued

No filler at all, but yes the paint must be really heavy

So I did the minimal prep needed on the carbon panels and painted them all, this now provided me with another dilema

I just couldn't bring myself to drill the doors and bonnet for chrome trim so only one choice, de chrome the rest of the car

Thanks mate    Yes i think so, need a bunch of testing to be sure, I have shock sensors fitted so will see how much downforce it has and then lift without it fitted, been testing one on my 1303 on the road and it feels more stable but that's only seat of pants and not 100% reliable

I bought the wheels a while ago as 2 different pairs so decided to make them match a little better

Yes they are but needed something wider on back for a decent rear tyre as a 6inch slick is about it on a 5.5 wide wheel, and at front a narrower wheel fits the front tyre better as well, mainly same reason Old cab has fuch on it these days

I saw the pics put up on the socials, looks really really good. I'm currently looking at a set of your carbon running boards, to keep the theme going, but that might be pushing things too far on a traditional cal looker.  Plus i've got the small matter of engine

I made a couple pairs with a dark tint now and they become much more subtle on the car

Yes that was the rough simple test "prototype" version, when i was happy with it I made a better version and then a mold of it so i can reproduce it easily if there is interest

Anything with T1 911 fan/alternator set up needs an external cooler and finding a decent place is always a challenge, more so with lots of pipes tucked away under there

Not being convinced the upright 911 fan conversion would give the even cylinder cooling i wanted i decided to try create my own!!! I prefer the look of the horizontal fan conversions and they give more room and access in engine bay so that's what I decided to create
I didn't take many pics so there are gaps in the process but this gives you an idea of what is involved!! I started with a roughed out cardboard shape, made a fiberglass mould/shape from that and then lots of measuring and shaping later I had a decent plug i could take a mould off to make a actual part  Due to the shape it needed to be a split mould to allow the final part to release

the mould flanges were then drilled so it all bolts back together in same place, mould split and cleaned up then waxed ready to make a part from

1st part was made from fiberglass so if its not right or i mess up fitting and trimming it to fit engine its not an expensive mistake

He did some extensive testing on the VW cooling.

i've a Wolfsberg West one in the 67, maybe that could be used as a starting point.

No, for several reasons,
one: all the testing i have read about[no idea how accurate it is]  shows it cools evenly over all cylinders but as it uses a regular fan its still limited on how much air it moves at any given rpm, i have a tall 4th gear so fan speed is quite slow, using a 911 fan which moves double the air a wide type 1 fan does at an given rpm should make a huge difference
two: the dtm set up takes even more room in engine bay than type 1 does so harder to fit everything in, and worse work on it as well 
three: there may have been some bias in the testing done to prove dtm is best
