hy pip  Wink , you're not content  Huh Grin
I don't criticize your car  Cheesy, it's built in the spirit of the 70' S, but for my part if I had money to buy a gasser that would be one which lived one, a history, Cool
for my part I don't have a gasser to make runs , but well a oldspeed  Shocked that I hope well to put on the dragstrip to make a time of 18 or 17 sec   Grin that wouldn't be badly for an 1200c engine with period engine kit  Cool
also this's a forum from where the right to express and say the bottom of its thought  Wink and as regards my blog if you don't like my pictures of old gassers whom I don't have never seen to run, hold that you not  to go there  Wink
, and to finish I will not answer to the next attack  Wink
keep cool  pip  Kiss

Fabian,  I took your post the wrong way.... It's all good my friend Cool

Not as nice as the first half. I don't really like bikes (although a Triumph Speed Triple would be nice), and you have a lovely engine room, but I have sausage fingers and wouldn't have a clue what to do in there other than look at the posters on the wall  Wink

I know my limitations  Grin

I have video of an early 80s Bug-In with Dean Lowrey racing the White Lightning car.  Pretty cool!

The owner of the White Lightning car was Bruce Lowery, no relation to Dean. It ran very well!

Maybe simply covered over when it was built as a race car – hard to tell on white paint in an old photo. I covered the semaphores on No Mercy and had them painted body colour, so they didn't show up in some photos, either. Just a thought.

Flakey Jake is a 58. White Lightning is a 59. I am good friends with Jim Jones who did the original build on this car in the early 70's in California before it was sold and called White Lightning. It did not have semaphores. He sold it in 1976, possibly to Bruce Lowery who then continued to race it.

After reviewing a few of the interior shots on Pip's thread, the original builder Jim Jones confirmed that it was indeed the car he and Dave Wasson built in the early 70's. This is based on the headrest in the pic, Pip confirming it had aluminum floor pans when he got it, as well as the Bug-In plaques that were originally on the car. After Jim sold the car, it changed hands multiple times. Martin Crossley bought it, drove it for about a year before Bruce Lowry got it. Sometime after that it, according to Pip's recollection, it ended up at the DeCoppen Bros shop. Then onto OldSpeed VW with LennModica. Then it came to Pip at The Compound with primer paint. I have some early pics I'll attach. First is one just after they bought it as a green / blue 59. Soon after, it was painted at B&S Autyo Body in Santa Monica, and pinstriped by Steve Feinberg who also did the graphic on the license plate light. It was originally had an 1835 that did 12.8, and was used for street races near LAX. Then a 2276 / Fumio heads/ IDAs was installed that did 11.70s.

As far as the semaphore question goes, the only logical answer might be that somewhere along the line, someone grafted them in. I am told it may have been sold by Russell Ritchie. Anyone know where the car sits today?
