Then it would be a good weekend

are you the comedian for Saturday night on stage?
It will be great weekend with the new track etc made even better if no drunk idiots are making noise all night
But seriously this event costs me a lot of money to attend and having to budget for hotel rooms for us all will make it harder to justify travelling all that way
cheers Richie

Can not argue against the cost Richie, I know traveling to Norway is expensive. But this year you will have the opportunity to race at three very nice tracks, three weekends in a row if you want!
First there is Bug Run Classic at Tierp Arena 5-6. of august with almost endless track time.
Then there is Pistonhead open 4# at Kjula Dragway in Eskilstuna 13-14. of august. Not a "VW only race", but very nice organised drag race for everyone at a very good track.
And last there is SCC at New Gardermoen Raceway 19-21. of August as you know.
Drunk and loud people are everywhere, hard to avoid them, unless you stay home in your couch of course...

We started last year with no other campers in the pits than racers. So along the tree line on the grass, on the stretch you had last year, there will be only racers.
I can put you up where you had pit last time?

Yes I have considered that, the other guys that help can't get all that time off to do all 3 so going to have to pick carefully what is realistic, Kjula does appeal just because I have never done it before, and while you are correct about drunks, there just isn't any need for it in the pits any time, let alone hours after noise is supposed to have stopped & particularly from supposed racers
And I can hear the crazy old drunk lady next door from my couch so even that is not safe
cheers Richie

Well, as you know, to have the track all to our self, SCC has to be a big VW festival embracing everyone enjoying an old vintage Volkswagen. There are just not enough VW racers to keep it a pure race event. I am sure you remember how it was the first time you raced at Gardermoen, when it was together with the NDRG`s event? Not much track time to the VW-guys back then...
I to are not a big fan of drunk people and music all night, but I think it is a small sacrifice to accept some of this to get all that track time (and it is cheap compared to other racing events too)
That said, I have to agree with Erlend, last year, with the new event layout, it was not much noise in the pits at night

I can confirm this. It has never been quieter in the pits so a thumb up for the new lay out. As a matter of fact I could not hear the concert either and it also helped that the SCC guys made sure it was quiet in the pits after 23.00.

The drunk idiots playing music a few years ago was to a large extent caused by Slackers Garage having a large pit area with big sound system, dance floor, DJs etc. (Mea culpa) We have scaled back the party factor the past couple of years and Slackers Garage have no plans to arrange anything like that this year. Now the layout of SCC has changed aswell, so the party area has to a large extent moved out of the pits and the sleeping conditions have greatly improved.
I am sure there will be a fair share of happy/drunk people celebrating the SCC at night this year too, but the pits were a lot more quiet last year and I am sure it will be this year aswell.

For those not on FB;
With membrane in other to avoid that the water from the German WW2 concrete sips up. Most importantly is that they have done a lot to drain the water out on the sides:
See you there!

Looking great. And the sun is shining
Will there be any event before SCC or is it the very first on the new surface? Are there any other events planned after SCC to get the most out of the track now that it's been redone?

As far as I know it's all getting ready before the grand opening now in August.
They habe been prepping the new track for some time and the 250 teams on theopening will surely help also before SCC:-)

The report after the first day is that several teams managed new PB's. The fastest ET so far is 6.44 and 340 KPH so there is still room for improvements before records are beaten.

I'm not there but I can't find him on the entry list. Perhaps you are mixing names because there is a guy called Jens Petter Lindstrom competing in Super Comp.
