New guy says hi.
Have be´n reading this forum since July now and thought i´d introduce my self. The car (a 66) is for now in a more "parts" status and the new paint "Summerblue LA5F" is drying. Hope i will be able to get it back on wheels for next season. Have only be´n into VW´s since 2000, but callookers was a part of the hobby since early 80´s. Did put togehter a 62 sedan OG with my dad for a couple of years but needed one for my self. Got the fever when i found this forum and nothing can stop me now. The 66 was "Callooked" in early 90´s in a more European style for the era, byt i want to change it for more like 70´s style. Please, give me some feedback on what to do if there is something missing. Hm. Lets see if we can get some pics.

Is it possible to drill out the holes in the wings again so you can mount T-bars ? This car need it.

I´m not so sure about the T-bars actually, but it would certainly benefit from loosing the running board trim and maybe some fresh rubber to cover up the holes from the clips IMHO. Nice stance! What rubber are you running?

Thanks for the advice on T-bars, but the bumpermounts is unfortunately missing. Maybe byggybars will do it? When it comes to the runningboards, yes the trim will go . And new rubber is needed to. The stance is not really finished yet. Was lowered in the back earlier, but for now running 175/55-15 in front and 195/65-15 in back. It works realy nice on the road whith that combo. Hope i can get some new pics next weekend with the new color on it. It looks better now with the darker blue i got when its dechromed.

I dig you car Bugsy... my favorite parts are the exhaust, steering wheel, the air vents in the seats, and the wheels! And Fred, I dig the painted headlight rings to... and I'm so glad you are going to remove the trim when funds allow! It's going to look killer!

Huh? And Fred, I dig the painted headlight rings to... and I'm so glad you are going to remove the trim when funds allow! It's going to look killer! Sorry, Fabian... but the body trim will never come off. I've already owned a dechromed VW. I've always wanted a '67 with the trim. Besides, I don't have the money to do that, anyway.

The painted headlight rings while retaining body moulding and full bumpers is an subtle, yet interesting twist. Well done.

Not a big fan of painted chrome but I do know that if you`re going to dechrome it then dechrome it! Eventually my 66 will have no side trim, turn signals, window molding, 1300 badge and maybe even no front hood handle. And thats not even mentioning one piece windows.

Mark, now you have to remove the window chrome. your car looks good the way it is. that said, I don't care for side molding on just about any car, be it american or german. jim
