If I ended up with one of those mufflers, it would have to be just like this car... black. That looks really good!

Right on, Eric... your car's looking good. Before you know it, your bigger engine will be in there and you'll be having even more fun.

I have no choice BUT to be patient with building mine... zero cash flow will do that. Been gathering engine parts since early 2008. That should make you feel better.

A shot of my car from awhile back. Don't think you've seen it with the t-bars, Eric.

Congrats with the finished car. So how does it drive?

How about fitting some spacers for the rear wheels?  Smiley

Actually, I like both. That's the beauty of these Cal Look VWs... we can change 'em up very easily. One weekend, I went with no bumpers and my sand blasted BRM wheels. Looked pretty cool. Amazing how wheels & bumpers can quickly change the look of a car. I still have a pic of your '66 when it was completely stock. I'll send it to ya for your archives.

DKK Fred/Mark,
You're starting to contradict yourself ... when are you gonna do the blade-only bumpers?
And I quote ... "I miss seeing cars with straight blade bumpers. Rarely ever see that, these days."
It's so easy and you have the materials at hand ...

Nope, not a contradiction at all. I like seeing straight blade bumpers on cars without over rider holes. I can deal with said holes using t-bars. But European and U.S. spec. bumpers don't mix well with that look, in my opinion. But... to each their own. Since I finally own a car with the holes, I'm enjoying the full bumpers and t-bars.

HAHA!! Good, then I'm doing my car correctly, then. My goal was to not fall into any rules or categories, this time around. Also makes me smile when I'm told I should change my rear lenses and other bits.

I like the T-bars and no caps myself.  That's the best looking arrangement you've displayed on your non conforming, laugh in the face of rules, as you like it, automobile in my humble and outspoken opinion.

HA! Funny, when I think of full bumpers on a Cal Look VW, I instantly thought of Brian Plummer's Lotus White '67 and Gary Berg's blue '67. Good call, my friend.
