Nice car that the nice engine lid is on too!

Yes, nice engine lid.
Reminds me on Aronson white cal-looker.
That's why I like it!

1965 Bug. Was a 1835ccm IDA engine, now it is 2110ccm EFI Turbo. Not been able to drive it properly yet, but after some hours in the dyno i hope it will haul some ass
This is my first car ever too have. Was 15 when I got it and I'm 23 now. The 1835ccm engine was my first ever engine to build and i have had a lot of fun with it the last 6 years. Around over 60+ runs down the dragstrip, long and short trips, cruising and some fun at the local track on trackdays (circuit). Looking forward for 2018 season with hopefully the new turbo engine up and running. I'm exited to see what times it will do on the dragstrip.

I think it goes without saying that I hang on to things, I have a Split Beetle that I have owned for 10 years without finding the time to work on it.
In the past 30 years I have owned 12 bugs, bays and splits. I still have 7 of them, anyone want to buy a bay

Speaking for myself, I am not dead yet ! And my memory still works
I remember going to Bug Jam '89, I remember using my Cal Look bug as my only transport , at a time when bugs were not a rare sight on the road.

I'm a couple of years behind you - my first Bug Jam was '95, and i got rid of my split bug after only 7 years of doing nothing with it!

I've had 30+ beetles in 17 years
but makes sense to have a keeper, especially one for 30 years!!
Here's another pic for you Neil, got a few bits already, early momo prototipo wheel, early Berg shifter

Hello I am Nick from the Netherlands. This is my daily driven 1979 beetle. I built a mild 1760cc dual 36 IDF engine for it. Last Cal look drags at Shakespeare county raceway I had a blast and raced it for the first time.
Thanks for the people that had taken photographs of my car and posted them on the internet!

Thank you guys! Yes, I will be at das drag day Broen. You too? Fastest time at Shakespeare was only a 17.2, but I had fun! Haha. The carbs are slightly better tuned now so maybe a 16 at ddd. I want to build a 2276cc engine for it in the future, so more to come!

Got stopped by a train for a while on my way home tonight and thought I'd snap a pic, then got bored after I got home and played around with my phone's photo editor a bit. And yes, I know patina ain't Cal, but t-bars, nose down, and fast certainly has me on my way there!

I see you have a "123 ontsteking". How are your experiences with this upgrade?

I really like the 123 ignition! I have a normal one that has a couple of basic curves, like the 009 curve. There is also a 123 tune ignition. With this you can adjust the curves and rev limiter etc.
I don't know how well they perform on big and high revving engine's, but on my engine it works well and is very reliable.

Amazing how bumpers change the look of a car so much!
What's your plans, I see you are selling the engine and box?

Thanks Lee. 😎
Yeah, the bumpers really change the look.
Plans are to drive the car, lots. I have a 1600sp and stock long axle gearbox to go in as soon as the 2054cc and short axle box sell. Further down the line a nice twin carb'd 1776cc and a 5 speed box would be cool. But the main thing is to use it and enjoy it.
I have a set of stock wheels and heaters for the long UK winter. 😂

US-spec '67's always look good with Euro bumpers. Don't know why, they just do! Numberplate isn't far from Richie Webb's 10 second nitrous car if I remember right. Is yours originally a UK car?
