p.s. the burn out pics of the oval look wicked, reminds me of some vid of 2332cc oval rippin the streets that used to be online on cal-look.COM

The bearings have come from VW Speedshop , I think they are BugPack ones , I have used them before with no problems .




Ok you have lost me you do not know what make are the bearings. I think they are BugPack because you have used them before. If i was to take $5000+ for a motor that i was putting together for someone. They would get a list of all the parts used  lets see (what bearings do i have in my motor). (Dont know but they are ok i have used them before) ok can i have my money back now. Huh

I wonder , the use of the dollar sign must mean your American , yeah right  Roll Eyes

I stand by everything I build , and our cars get driven all the time .

 I get my parts from the guy with the quickest Beetle and van in Europe , so if he supplies me some bearings and says they are good , I use them , I did before , and the car they were in got raced  , a lot , and driven on the road a lot , when the engine was taken apart for new heads and a freshen up , the bearings were fine .

And when my friend , that has the bearings , gets his car back , finished after a £ 40 K plus rebuild , he will get a list of everything in the car , what make everything is  , down to the last nut and bolt .

So far this forum has been a friendly place , try not to ruin it eh  Wink

 Ported  & polished s/p heads w/ 39*32 mm...

 Engle W130 camshaft..

 Bosch 010 dist with blue coil..

 1 3/8  custom Stainless dual queit pack..

 

 
welcome to the lounge  HE , I would have wanted to know if the sprintkit was pleasant and supple kit in city, either everything or anything?? I ask this question because also own a sprintkit in my 61 but over a 1200cc but I don't make any preparation engine - > stock just a empi oil pump with filter and empi oil sump
here's my kit, but i don't have the oil cooler behind the fan have you Huh

I build most of the motors , but H67 has had his built by Paul Bate , who is a member on here , and another prospect member has had his engine built by someone else . The club is not exclusive to my engines , it's just that when we started the club , I had built all the engines .

The blue 67 will be having a fairly mild 1835cc motor in it , we made the quarter mile time cut off 15.99 secs , to give the smaller engined cars the ability to get in the club .

 Hi Speedwell,

 I 've used this Sprintkit for 20 years daily driver..

 Got it from the local Austin Mini garage in bangkok, brandnew with instruction manual..

 This kit came with 1500 adapter but didn't have the oil cooler..

 From the past ,inside the engine is stock 1600cc..

 It's OK for 1600 w/dual stromberg carb ,equal to dual 34 ICT..

 Now ,I've prepared ported & polished heads with 39mm. intake,32mm. exaust..

 H/D single valve spring, chromoly retainer..

 German lifter, chromoly pushrod..

 Balanced stock flywheel & crankshaft..

 H/D oil pump w/ oil filter , I don't have oil sump,but use windage tray..   

 This engine is fine , good respond from 2000-6000 rpm..

 But that I've told before, the idle is too high (14-1500rpm)..

 Maybe I 've change the cam to W100 , because I plan to install the air condition unit next year..

 I 'm very impressive with your sprintkit topic , I love this kit..

For me the engine could be a "black box". I don't care what is inside the engine as long as it does what it is supposed to do.

BTW, I have one of the fastest N/A cal-lookers  in europe and I have no clue what brand the bearings are! And yes, flanged cranks works on the street as long as you don't have the clutch down in traffic lights. Just have it in neutral until it is green.

...and keep the forum friendly. Isn't that what the hobby is about? Having fun!

Hey Darrell, I got a chance to check out your car at Cruizin for the Cure.

I love the detail work on it. Plus it's best application of Gas Burners I've seen.

What is the scoop on the fan housing? Who's it made by? Any cooling issues?

Thanks guys!  Zach, your either going to have to come back out to So Cal, or wait until Bug-O-Rama Phoenix.  Grin

Jesse, I think they did a pretty good job too, but Stephan took almost 600 photos of the car, and I think Street VW (Vol #53) used more of the detailed shots.

Rick - That is a Competition Engineering carbon fiber housing with a Porsche 993 fan and alternator.  It is the only housing I found that would fit the larger fan, both width wise as well as depth (it's a 115 amp alt with it's own cooling fan on the back side).

Hi everyone,

Nice rides people... My first bug was going to become a cal-look but a blond bimbo turned it into a pice of crap... My new one '69 bug (it is a cheepest version wchich has been made since '67 til '70 something - no fuel gauge, no chrome trim on the hood only VW emblem, 6V Cheesy maybe any of you know how it is called... I heard that something like schpere kafer... sorry for selling). It is on a good way to became a cal-look... he has T-bars allredy Smiley and a twin dellorto engine (1600ccm for start...). I've got only the engine pix Smiley when I'll finish my looker I'll show it to you all Smiley

Wow, a flange crank in a street engine - how cool is that!! And this is not even the first one if I understand you correctly? Does the bearing cope well with the extra wear?

Hmmmm, maybe I will try a flange crank instead of a wedged one on my next engine  Smiley

I have one other customer running one on the street , and Paul Hamilton at VWSpeedshop , has one in his 12.5 second Bay window panel , that he drives 100 miles to York raceway , runs mid 12's all day , then drives home .

I think the trick is to not hang about at all on the clutch , shift as quick as possible to minimise wear on the thrust surface .

We only go over to the flange cranks , for M&H treads or slicks .

oh yeah that day was veeery nice...  Grin and the faces of audi TT driver's wchich was the oponent of Paul were cool also  Grin yup that car is rally great... Pete haven't told that Paul went by it to Santa Pod for Bug Jam from Manchester and all way back...Too bad that the wether on Bug Jam was preete bad and they closed the track and they eaven didn't allowe Paul to spean a litle bit, but it was funn eaven though... when Paul launched on the road for fire turck...By the way... have you ever wonder what was the fuel consumptionin that panelvan?  Grin
