Car looks good, Zach. Is it me, or do the rear wheels/tires appear to have positive camber in the front angle picture? Almost looks like the engine wasn't in on that one.

We had just dropped the car down off the lift and rolled it outside, so the suspension hadn't completely settled back down yet. The picture shows some tire gap- that isn't present once you take it for a drive.

Except for the alternator, I think it's pretty "old school" looking. I would have prefered a generator myself, but AssHull already had a perfectly good alternator, so in it went. And with all of the electrical nonsense in this car, an alternator probably isn't a bad idea, anyway The engine looks good, but whats dates it the most for me is the mexican(?) alternator with the casted lump on top... the old german ones are smooth up there... but I always prefer a generator . I have to say that this car got a real nostalgic and "European" feel... it's like what you would see on the shows in mainland Europe. I would say its the most nostalgic US build since Rick Sadlers car came out. Just a personal opinion Thumbs up!

Wow! Thanks JHU! Your check is in the mail! I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but Rick Sadler's car actually played a very important role with this build. About a year and a half ago, we were knee deep in metal work, and the February 2008 issue of Hot VW's was on the stands, with Rick's car on the cover. AssHull & I both agreed that we liked the car very much, except for one thing: the tach sticking up in the windshield. AssHull already had an Autometer Monster Tach with bracket to mount it in the defroster vent, along with some other Autometer gauges to go in the panels on either side of the '68 speedo (looks like a '67 but has a fuel gauge). I'm not a fan of things that look like add-ons, or afterthoughts. So long story short, since we already were doing some Porsche things, I suggested Porsche gauges, and eventually we came up with what it is now. For me, it is undoubtedly the focal point of the car, and it looks like it could have been that way from the very beginning

Big thanks to everyone that helped out with this project and for all the support. Like Zach said, I got the car to it's new home a couple days ago. Other then the issue with the pulley, it ran absolutely wonderfully. Wife was even getting annoyed cause she couldn't keep up I'm new with IDAs so I've got some reading to do to learn how tune them. The change in elevation is giving me a lean spot right when I start to give the engine a little bit of gas. Makes cruising around a real pain. Just means I have to give it throttle Zach let me borrow the LM1 to help tune the carbs. So hopefully that will help me out. I'll keep ya posted CHEERS and thanks again for everyones help with this car.Sling for letting us raid his shop and tools and staying all night to help me button it up last minute so I could drive it home. Jeremy for helping make sense of that new idea of electricity. A special thanks out to Zach. He put an amazing amount of time and care into this project from start to finish. I wouldn't have such an amazing ride had I done this on my own.

Wife was even getting annoyed cause she couldn't keep up ^^^THIS^^^ is a great statement. So much Cal Look content detected in that sentence, it's off of the Cal Look-O-Meter. Congrats on getting your great looking car home, Mr. Hull.

My only regret is not following this thread sooner... Good stuff in these pages, guys, congrats on such a nice build! My '70, which looks about the same since my 2004 visit to Arizona for the Bugorama, is still in the Mark Herbert (RIP) school, and I couldn't be happier. :-) Once the 2017 is done, it'll still be beat looking, but a whole lot faster.

Cheers!

Nice looking car , just one thing bothers me.....the wiper arm nut needs to be painted black! I would also be tempted to get the glovebox button anodised black as well.
