This is how my dragracing project started, a sorry looking Notch that I found in a town close by. The goal is to run it on SCC 2009.

It was to be paired up with this chassi from Ron Lummus. Though it was still in the US and it felt like forever before it arrived

I dragged the car to the garage.

Went to a birthday party and my friend Fredde happened to come by with the big anglegrinder and all of a sudden the body was off the pan

Not much to save

The car was so bad that I even had to fix the doors

While I was at them I made some holes. What was typical was that when I was done with the doors, fresh ones turned up...

I am going to keep the dash

While I was waiting for the chassi I collected some parts. Kept them in may old racer.

The engine is a 2332:a with JPM heads, big turbo a Garrett GT45, it will run on E85, Autronic SM2, MSD 7 and some more stuff. I think it will be quite competent and make the car move.

Finally the chassi arrived. Though the salty air on the ocean had done some damage. Had to start with some cleaning.

With the chassi finally home I could start with the body. Had to put one side on just to get the feel of it. Now all I have to do is to get there...

While I am running a turbo I can be good to cool the air before it gets into the engine. This is how it will look like

I will add a fan that will suck air through the IC and if it will be needed I can get air from the sidewindows.

Two Bosch 044 pumps should do it

The gas will get to the engine through two pipes and return in one throught the regulator

Now we are getting closer to realtime. No racecar will be complete without it´s aluminum. When I ordered the chassi I also ordered 100 Dzus.  A bit cheaper to by there then here. I have never worked with aluminum before and not much with steel either. I had some trial and error. But i think it came out alright.

Building the rear firewall was a quite a lot of work.

Even the doorjams had to be filled

A wheeliebar will be needed I think

Started on the fenders. Realised that I only have one decent fender. Though I have a few good prospects lined up.

Dzusing the fender

The seat is at it´s position and so is the steering wheel  and so is the throttle, break and clutch pedals.

The exhaust is ready. A friend (Patrik with the black fastback) built it for me.

I don't think I've ever seen a twinscroll turbo manifold setup on a type 1 engine before. I normally see the exhaust ports matched with the firing order to minimize any turbulence/pressure drop. I think 1 and 4 then 3 and 2 would have to be paired to separate the pulses properly.

Looks neat though! I can't wait to see how that setup performs compared to an open turbo.

I was thinking the same thing.
Nice wastegate arrangement though.

Oh, and the car is not bad either...  Shocked

The reason i made the header like that is beacuse there isnt much space to play with(wheeliebars and the drag chute brackets)
and if you think about it,it is in firingorder if you start counting at cyl nr 2(1,4,3) Wink Smiley
Normally when you do a pulssplit header for a twinscroll turbo on a VW you pair them 1-3 and 2-4,the reason is to gain 3-400 rpms in spoolup,
perfect for street use but this one is for dragracing use and will not see rpms under 6000.

Steering column securely fastened.

Shift mount. Hopefully this will be solid enough

The tranny is now in place, though only spotwelded.

The chute arrived. Lots of stuff. Know all I have to do is to build the mount to it.
