Continued from above....

So Dee and I finally say our good-byes and we make promises to get together for lunch.  We both agree that Susy must attend.  I almost walked out without Nico's shifter (I told you I was excited).  But I did manage to find the sense to ask Dee to pose for one last photograph....  Dee Berg holding Nico's new shifter.

So there you have it.  Nico, you now have a California story attached to your Berg Shifter.  I love the fact that this BERG Shifter was only handled by us California Ladies.  The Cali Girls with Split Windows!!!  Dee and I wish you many fun miles ahead...  Be safe Nico and Enjoy!!

Nico tells me that he will keep this Berg Shifter 4-EVER  Wink

Great story, and of course I will keep this shifter, if I have another project it will have its place in it, and if I unfortunately have to sell my car I will keep it in my collection.

I was so excited to receive the package ! And I was a little worried with the money I sent you, because the girl at the bank office has never done any bank transfer to the US before so she didn't know how it works ! I'm probably the first to have done that in my town  Cheesy.

I still can belive it, I have it comin' from You and Dee, I'm glad you've make it happen to me thank you again and again and again !

 Wink

P.S. Here is a baaaad picture of the shifter that's on my bedside table since I receive it, with this I dream about VWs all night ! Grin Wink

UPDATE:
[ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=869914

Looking through the Samba last night I ran across the above posting.  I asked myself...
OMG, is that my old split window on the cover of Hot VW's?

I actually purchased the magazine last night after emailing back and forth with a different seller.  He informed me that he personally saw the car at the port in Long Beach, ready to ship to Japan around 1992.  He tells me that a VW shop in Japan had purchased it.  He also told me that it ended up in some museum over there.  Hmmmm.. that's the same story I heard from our very own Jeff Hicken recently.  The seller of the magazine also told me that he saw it up for sale in a Japanese magazine by the name of CAL around 93/94.  He's going to look for the magazine for me  Grin

I began a new search last night on the web. I wish I knew how to read Japanese!  I was able to find a vw club in Japan and emailed a female member (it's a girl thing) who told me that she remembers the car and seeing it at shows in the 90's.  Dialog still in progress.  Time change is a frustrating variable.

So as you know, I've found my DEEK family.  I wonder if I can find the car?   Roll Eyes

Thanks again Fabs.  Not mine in the magazine.  53 Rainbow was not a RHD and it didn't have the forward vents.  Boy, it sure looked like it.  Fabs, you mentioned to me on fb that you knew of the magazine CAL.  Can you tell me more about the magazine?  I'm still going to follow up on the leads to Japan.
Anyone need an old Hot VW's magazine?   Tongue
WORM... you can have it!
