That new motor is going to make some serious power. Glad to see you have done away with the inverted rear a-arms. The car should handle much better now. You will definitely have to up your rear spring pressure and shock valving to combat the extra engine weight and the power on launch. It would be wise to have two or three pairs of springs (going up maybe 50 lbs at a time) to test at the track. I have found that whenever I turn up the boost/launch rpm a little, the rear spring rate needs upping. Hope this little snippet helps you guys dial her in. Can't wait to see you guys back on the track Matt

Well the car always ran straight, never had any issues at all, the launches were just weird and I think it was down to the shock set-up so I think we're going to run a pair of double adjustable's. Yeah there's going to be lots of testing needed for the new rear end!

You seem to have a big hole in your Arse No seriously looking good Adele , are you going to cut and Raise the whole of the rear fork's / torsion tube for the IRS or just run a raised engine mount ? Std wing looks good thow I think the colour's a little off . Looking good Glenn

Bit of an update.. A arm in the making, the bearing housing is cut from a stock VW IRS arm so bearings are easily available and I can use my existing RLR/Strange brakes. 3/4 built arms Locating mounts tacked into position for mock up Not sure on final ride height yet..

yeah Wayne's doing it all. I think it's about 10" total narrower than stock in order to fit the 8.5" slick under a stock wing!

I love them! Nice to see Wayne's approach - zero camber change through the suspension ark is defo the way forward for drag cars. He's a clever chap, our Wayner

Another quick update below. Gearbox is now in for the mock up, along with some more tubing. Note that part of the rear cage has been removed (The part that bolted to the luggage panel and frame horns) to allow for more room and for a better way for Wayne to now tie all the rear end in.

It will be have to go back to Waynes for the tinwork so there are a couple of strengthening tubes to be added which will be done once the engine and turbo etc is all in place. New shorter shocks are also needed!

That's looking fantastic guys! How is the position of the lower spring/shock mount calculated? On Matt's we had to point the bottom of the spring/shock almost through the center line of the axle. Before that when it was further forward the forces acting upon it were too great when launching. The rear end squatted far too much and it bent upper mounts. I'm guessing Wayne knows what he's doing though!

More updates for anyone who is interested. Brakes have now all been re-plumbed, we opted for stainless hard line this time round instead of braided flexi lines. Hydraulic clutch and pedals all in place and plumbed too. Also installed the new Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and filters and we are still using our -6 return line but have now gone for -10 main fuel line which i spent the day routing it on the car. Engine is also in place as a long block, some work needs to be done on the header to make it fit with the new rear end also. New fuel line Ignore the tie wraps New Fuel Pump Working late...always worth having a removeable steering wheel! Rear end

Hey Jamie, carpert is ace to work on! We have it in our home garage too (we're at a friends at the mo).
The header is being made as nothing off the shelf will fit. I've just bought some mild steel bends off ebay for £9.50 each so not too bad really. The seller name is tube-fabs on ebay. Yeah full cooling, having raced last year without it I'm looking forward to less pushing and also driving back from the top instead of having to go fetch her with the quad!

Well we had the 'old' header Richie had made, so at first we were hoping to use it as is but the new rear end meant we couldn't. The solution was to cut and re-work the header to make it fit! Richie did it all at his workshop as he has access to a Tig welder. If you can tack your one together i'm sure Wayne or someone like that will tig it up.
The bends I bought today are now not needed as we managed to use every part from the old header so if you need a few bends i'll have 3 for sale!!
