Jerry Lackei in Huh
We would say an European landscape, the photo would have  taken on an air base of the US air force in germany ?? Huh

Correct, it's Jerry Lackey at Hanau/Germany. Here some more shots:

This is Jerrys first car (pic 1969), not exactly Cal-Look, but VW-powered at least.

here you can find some more Springalex wheels -all with leather-coating but they also did them with wooden rings. I think you can't really tell what kind of steering wheel that is looking at the picture -cause there were so many made similar to the speedwell.

Ok Ole, but do you mind if I am telling you that I have no clue who Jerry Lackey is?  Undecided

What is he doing? What did he do?

[Ok Ole, but do you mind if I am telling you that I have no clue who Jerry Lackey is? Undecided
What is he doing? What did he do?

OK, short lesson in History of German Dragracing:

Jerry "Big Daddy" Lackey was one of the Pioneers of dragracing in Germany.

The first "race" in Germany took place at Ramstein Airbase in 1969, some month later at Erlensee Airbase.

The first HARA (Hanau Auto Race Association) timing system...

Another car of Jerry (1976). Not really Cal -Look, but it has da stance... looks like 13" in front.

Jerry Lackey later raced the Patriot Jet Dragster. The car is today raced by Ulrike Golde

Jerry is still involved in drag racing today, he's a member of the DMSB dragrace department. The only permanent dragstrip in Germany (MZA-Luckau) bears the name "Jerry Lackey Raceway"

Ole

it's rare to see a type 3 on dragstrip this's CHRIS & JEFF'S fastback at AMARILLO dragway in the 70's

Hey guys! My dad bought this fastback from Jeff after he won the NHRA Championship with it. My dad owned up until around 94. We ran it in M/C and then switch to SS/DC with it. It was a fun car. We still have the fiberglass decklid off the car. I've got a picture of it and I'll see if I can scan it one day. Later from Texas  Cool
