Great idea for the thread. But I'll just sit on the sidelines and watch. Just running a single port 1600cc with dual Weber 34ICT carbs, .009, and an A-1 sidewinder exhaust/dynaflow muffler.
Hopefully, the new engine will resemble something like this:
CC and HP 1915cc/don't care how much h.p. it's never gonna be raced.
Crank 69mm forged German counter-weighted.
Rods Rimco Super Rods.
Chrome-Moly pushrods.
P/B Jelly?
Cam Don't know, yet. Probably an Engle 130
Heads .044 smoothed out and mildly opened up.
C/R Don't know... just want to run pump gas and race fuel blend.
Ignition Bosch blue coil, Bosch plug wires, and Bosch .010 distributor.
Carbs Weber 44mm IDF
Exhaust 1 5/8" A-1 sidewinder merged header, Dynoflow muffler, 1 5/8" flanged fresh air heater boxes.
Flywheel 8 doweled and slightly lightened... not too much.
Clutch Kennedy 1,700lb diaphram
Transmission will have the tallest fourth gear that I can find, welded synchros, h.d. side plates, and a Super-Diff. Nothing too fancy. Just a little more stout than stock.

I was skeptical, at first. Because I've always been a firm believer in Kadrons for single throat carbs. But after much frustration from trying to find single port Kadron manifolds, I gave up. Hard to believe that we used to throw those things in the trash in the '80s. Now, people want big bucks for 'em. HAHA!! So my friend, Chris, found out that I wanted some small carbs. He sold me this brand new set for $200. I was STOKED! They were jetted for a Type 3 s.p. engine, so I left that alone. Painted the manifolds gloss gray, painted everything else flat black, had my friend, John, adjust 'em for me. (it was way too many years away from air-cooled engines, last year) I'm very happy with the 34 ICT carbs. Mileage same as stock, long as my foot's not in it. Great performance for a stock engine, too. I can easily peg the speedometer and they stay in tune nicely, as well.
I never thought I'd ever get a set of these. I highly recommend them for small or stock engines.

125k mile original 1600 dual port
. They were rated at 60hp, but a fresh stocker dyno's at a true 48hp or so. I've got a Zenith 32NDIX with 25mm vents, Bosch 010 w/Pertronix, header with S&S glasspack, and 30mm oil pump. It's tuned within an inch of it's life, with as much advance and the leanest jets it will take. I figure it's making 55-60 honest horsepower

Here are the specs for the engine in my '67
2332cc's, never had it on a Dyno. The compression was 10.5 to 1 but I grew tired of running race fuel so I just lowered it to 9.5.
Crank - Demello 84mm chevy journal crank wdgemated to a 12.5 lb flywheel
Rods - Eagle 5.5in forged h-beam rons w/ARP bolts
P&L's - 94mm cima/mahle
Cam and valvetrain - Webcam .498 lift and 312 degrees duration, magnum straight cut gears stock rockers with solid shafts with swivel feet and chromoly pushrods
Heads - Jeff Denham ported 044s', 44x37mm valves, dual springs, titanium retainers, hardened keepers
Fuel system - 48 IDA's on CB tall manifolds, 37mm venturis, Berg linkage, Holley red pump and regulator, -8 stainless line from tank to regulator, -6 from reglator to carbs
Exhaust - Pheonix 1 3/4 merged system with 2.5 in magnaflow muffler from A-1
Ignition - German 009 with a pertronix ignitor that I bought in 1995 or so, 7800 rpm rev limiting rotor Blue coil, MSD wires, NGK spark plugs
Oiling system - Schadek 30mm oil pump, full flowed with Berg pump cover, Fram HP1 oil fliter, external cooler with thermostatically controlled fan, -8 hose and AN fittings
Clutch - KEP stage 2, stock solid center disc.
Other stuff - Berg breather box, equalizer pulley, Thing fanshroud & all german tin (except for the breastplate) is powdercoated gloss black

Here's my current setup, though it's fixing to change like many of you ...
2276cc never on the dyno, low compression now but plan to raise it up just to see the differences possible...
Crank: Okrasa 82mm, porsche journals, Berg Equalizer
Rods: Carrillo 5.352
Cam: Web 86C with Berg 1.46:1 rockers (prefer my FK87)
Heads: Fumio welded and ported 42X37 with 53cc chambers
Compression: 8.7:1
Carbs: Italian 48IDAs on tall Scat Tracks with 40mm vents
Ignition: Vertex Mag, usually run 32 deg total
Exhaust: 1.75" Berg header into 2.5" magnaflo
Oil: 26mm pump with Berg cover, T4 cooler in Scat 36hp shroud
Trans: Berg 5 speed 3.88 r&p, 4.11, 2.47, 1.65, 1.21, .95
Fun on the street and still can blow down the highway at 75 mph without thinking about heat problems!
Best ever time was 12.77 on DOTs and thru the muffler.

you're joking, how you never built a fast non-turbo type 1 engine?
how come there's only a few sub-2 litre engine posted in this thread?
are the owners a bit shy about their HP numbers? i liked to see a few more just for the sake of comparison...
