Seen at the New Zealand Nationals this weekend. Whilst the roofrack isn't strictly Cal Look I really liked this Super Beetle.

Yes, me too.  Had 185 (forgotten profile) tyres on the front, so should grip well.

That is a very nice super beetle.
The front tires are probably 185/60's like I have on the front of my car.

Andy
I think the black 8 spokes had 205/65 on the rear...but my memory may be wrong.  I looked as they did seem to fit so nicely...

Maybe you could start by removing the chromed parts on the grids and the rear fenders ?  Wink

Yep! Ronal Kleeblatts, believe they came as an option on later convertible bugs - forever being asked to sell them!

Andy the pics were taken in Oxford. Would like to do some long trips over the summer so may get a few in nicer settings

Thanks for the comments though. Some very, very nice cars on this forum!

Here's the late looker I'm currently piecing back together after a chassis swap. It still has a long ways to go but she's been a good car to me.

List of things still to do....
Finish wiring
Headliner
Mount my Recaro Trophys on stock mounts
Brakes
Fit my 914 gauges
Fender welting
Paint decklid light, headlight trim and turn signal trim
Lots more in sure but that's just the immediate stuff.

My 68 is very similar to yours, I also have Fuchs on it but if I will had to choose another set of wheels, I'll go with riviera. During last bug show, I count more than 4 chinchilla or savanha late models fitted with Fuchs. I still love the look,it's just so classy, but I would look at others options to stand of the crowd Wink

Thought I'd post a few of savannah beige 69, I originally built this as a resto cal, but cal-look has always been my passion. Over the next few months It'll be getting a new (bigger) engine, 4.5 and 5.5 sprintstars and maybe an interior retrim, unsure to go for T-bars or stick with the bumpers.

I'd go for spiders in gold for that classic oldschool look.
Fuchs are more "new school"

Jdanet, I like the spiders, but maybe a lighter grey?
Mertman, i love Sprintstars on a late model but there's nothing wrong with Cosmics! Narrow axles on the back might be a better bet for tuck, but you'd have similar problems with the Sprints in my experience.

Yeah I was thinking of going to short axles on the rear. I do love the Cosmics, but it's a right pain to get them to work with dropped spindles. I'll be selling them to help fund my engine build.

I also have a '68 but I have detailed pedrini's on it. I have a question for jdanet - Does your car have a standard width beam or has it been narrowed? Also, do you have drop spindles on it? Are the wheel genuine Fuchs or reproductions. Are the fronts 4.5 inches wide or 5.5?  I have been thinking of changing to Fuchs so that's why I'm asking. Your cars look very nice!  8)Thanks

Dear Jeff,

not narrowed,
I have drop spindles and a saw a way
My Fuchs are reproductions (SSP). polished rims and painted by myself
The fronts wheels are in 4.5 (5.5 on the rear)
