Works good for me (but the rear shocks are older), planning to upgrade the torsion bars to 27mm soon and adjust the sway bar a little bit harder, the modified z-bar is now preloaded, but will later be adjustet for negativ preload.
Car sits very flat and controlled in fast corners and brakes so good that it hurts my face.
1 finger steering is enough when going 180+ km/t.
Sounds like a fun machine to drive!

I can't see that Johannes wrote the part number to me but it has 10mm lift, and 268 degrees lift at 0,05” and 108 lc.
Of course matched with a set of oteva springs.

That's a step up from mine I think, I've the 00808 in my similar spec motor that I've yet to drive. Yours sounds like a lot of fun

Had that on in the last version of the engine with 42/37 valves, was a blast to drive, very strong from 2000-5000 rpm!

Nope, kept it svingaxel stil, and can't say that a miss any grip.
With the adjustable sway bar and Z-bar I can keep a good control of the wheels so it sits perfectly flat threw corners.
For now I am running 1 degree to much of camber in the rear but at corners that rolls over to a nice more neutral setting.
I have a set of porsche arms laying at home but that upgrade has to come at the same time as a porsche trans, but for now this is working good enough.

For those interested these shots were taken with a Canon FTb with Kodak Tri-X 400 films
tri-X is my favorite film. i can't remember in what i developed it (was a kodak bag/powder solution), but that made the grain very fine, and contrast a mile deep. Pm me if you want to talk BW film

Hi Folks,
Well.... As I started this topic
many
years ago I feel in duty to post my (mostly) finished car.
At the beginning of this post I received a lot of hate from the younger enthusiasts, that a late car cannot be true cal-looker.
And a superbeetle? Never!
Thanks to legends like Bill Schwimmer the tables have turned and now we have one of the most popular thread on the Lounge and a 'new' style called 'Late Looker'
Sorry for the quality of the pics, but as the car drives - not 100% finished though - I had to share my happiness that after all these years I finally made it.
It turned out to look a little too much 80s than I wanted in the beginning - with this yellow engine tin and louvered firewall...
But. What the hell... It has something from DKK Lisa Maxwell's 53 Rainbow. (Thanks Lisa)
Engine internally is a nothing fancy 1915cc making probably around 100-110 PS DIN and about 120 American HP
but with its 4.37 trans it pushes quite lively.
Enough to get it through a quarter in 15.5s. (documented
) - Engine freshend up since last driving by Quick Stick Performance (Thanks Tom!)
The heavy car/~100HP/short R/P made it thanks to a couple of emails with Dyno Don (Thanks Dyno!)
Interior at the moment is a complete mess, (hope to finish it till the end of season) but it has Half Vinyl old Kadett GSI black Recaros, Grant 15'' steering wheel, and a Hurst Indy shifter I bought years ago from Zach Gomulka. (Thanks Zach!)
Here it is before respray at the track:
Whadya say, guys?

@ Rebel: not bad, at all.
Fix that dual exhaust to sit a little bit more equal on both sides, and other things from your checklist ant thats it...drive it.
Above everything - have fun !

Hello I am Nick from the Netherlands. This is my daily driven 1979 beetle. I built a mild 1760cc dual 36 IDF engine for it. Last Cal look drags at Shakespeare county raceway I had a blast and raced it for the first time.
Thanks for the people that had taken photographs of my car and posted them on the internet!
