I like the whole different feel/look a later car has.
They look better with more tire than a 67-earlier car. They seem "tougher" not so dainty and fragile. Closer to their big cousin the 911 too. And I can attest, a nicely setup IRS car with some business under the engine lid sure is a lot of fun to drive. Seems like later cars don't get so wrapped up in the "what makes a cal look car?" hype. They're "allowed" to be real cars.

Funny, as lately I have been thinking of swaping out the 145s on the front of the '67 for something wider. Going around corners is fun.

Harry, that decklid is GREAT! I love the factory vents behind the license plate. GOOD STUFF! Eventually, I want to do that to mine. I'll have Danny Gabbard to it.

Louis, I've always thought that corners/curves were meant to be taken fast. Can't to get some money and put some wider tires on the front of my '67. Till then, my motorcycle 135 tires will have to do. I like their profile... just afraid to push the car in a turn with the tiny contact patch surface.

Like Jim posted... I think a well set up I.R.S. '69 or '70 would be fun to build and drive. Bigger swaybars, good shocks, bushings, etc.

It's for my 84 Anniversary Model. Which will be converted to IRS in the future. For now, decklid, correct fenders again, VERY much beefed up suspension, and the new 2165.

Question, if ya had that car today, what would you change? or would you? What kind of look would you give it? With the high caliber of your 67', I'm sure it would be just as high if not higher. Man the late bugs seem to be coming out of the woodwork!

Written like a fellow blue '69 owner !  I'd have no chrome, one piece glass, match painted handles and headlight doors.  As much as I like red, I'd probably go with Lotus White or a cream color and do the interior in a cashmere beige.  I still like the traditional look of BRM's but the car is a four lug, so Id probably choose Fuchs 914 Alloys (full polish, no chrome).  The bumpers would be paint to match, too with a black rubber deco strip and turn signals built in.  It would have to have a monster motor, too   Thanks for asking!

Love the holes in the lower edge and lip looks hard and helps cooling no doubt.

hi people i have just joined up to the lounge and thought i'd show you my late model.



this is a 1980 model which means i still have to pay road tax.
the engine is a 2109cc and so far has run a 14.1quarter in full street trim but hoping to break the into the 13's next time out

look at the drilled front apron, it's probably running a waterboxer engine!
