What a great thread!
Plenty of us lurkers out there even if we don’t post..

If it sticks,
One day he might be better than the old man at this stuff.

thanks for posting, i'm sure that he will out do me, i hope he does.

Well this update goes show that not everything goes according to plan. I love the machined turns parts that are on the Ragtop, but one area we thought we could change to match the dash board and seat carbon pieces was the door sill trims. We also thought that it would be nice to see what we could make ourselves rather than buying off the shelf parts.
So i started by whipping the fast fab trim pieces off my 67 and using them to make a mould. One area on contention is that they have a chequer pattern on them which might not look good through the gel coat. Anyway we put that thought to one side and about some kits from easy composites, and set to work. After waxing the trim piece, mixing up the resin for the mould we set to work. It took a day of messing around, and 24 hours later we excitedly popped the trim out the mould hoping to have some to use. Unfortuantely as you will see in pics below it didn't go according to plan. Some bits of the mould cracked away, maybe we didn't put enough wax release agent on. So we will try again later in the year, if i can find a good quality trim set with no pattern on them that might be better.
