Tommy V's car is almost done, went to James Wotton for some final fettling
the man standing behind the car isn't a shoe bomber, that's Tommy himself

Yes, that is indeed a sleeper and a very nice one. I have always liked marathon wheels, and to widen them is such a nice touch. I've always wondered what a chrome plated marathon would look like? Maybe too much bling though

Well, I was a bit bored with my every day 2002 diesel polo so I sold it and got me a cooler daily driver: this 1975 1200 model bug with a 1300 dual port engine fitted from the factory.. Pretty strange car with some 1200 specs (old steering wheel, no skylight contacts on the doors openings, etc) but the padded dashboard, the rubber stripes in the bumpers, etc.. It as a little over 70.000km from new, it's a Belgian car very well kept, I have all the original paperwork, interior is mint, so is the headliner...

I've already lost the mudflaps and a few gizmos inside, plans are a pair of dropped spindles, marathon wheels, some period VW accessories (steering wheel, shifter) and keeping the stock 1300 engine since it's now my only regular car, and my girlfriend has to drive it too. So I want the car to be easy to drive, silent and economic!
Lots of fun so far

Very cool car, Roland. I'd love to get a Euro spec late model... you guys had way more variants than we had in the States. Standards are great! Less is more.

Nice car Roland. I owned a 78 German built bug and it was a great daily driver, really usable.

A full stock bug is really pleasant to drive, I sometimes take my dad's one, very fun ! Seems I'm in first class compared to my lowered and noisy one

Agreed. the ONLY VW other than a Cal Looker to drive is a properly done stock one. I grew up with parents that had a few... so they're like a second home to me.

stock is growing on me a lot!
But then yesterday I got the 68 ready for the season. It's been a year since I had a problem with the engine. I had almost forgotten how it feels like to drive a cal-look bug with a big engine, skinny tires, lots of noise!! Well I missed it!
It's a bit like day and night to drive these 2 cars
