I hate speaking of myself, maybe too shy... But as the old About Me section was down, I thought I simply had to revamp it and try to make it interesting... After all, I'm sure many of the regular visitors have no idea who I am...

Anyway, please, don't listen to the guys that will tell you I'm only 31, that I live in France and that I wasn't there in the good old days... Except if you have read the fake story on right column...

Just read below the real profile and understand why I'm a VW Gasser addict...

Well, I'm born on 18th April 1942 in Salem, Oregon, USA... I moved at the age of 17 to southern California as my father changed military airbase... That when I became interested by the automotive world...

I immediately fell in love with all those little VW that were everywhere in sunny southern Los Angeles freeways... Soon, it became evident that it was the only car I could afford, so I quickly began searching one good used... I bought my first VW at the age of 18. It was a lovely first hand '54 sunroof oval window I sold after 5 years of every day use... Wish I still own it today...

I get hooked with racing VW while attending my first Bug-in ever in 1969. I never ran a VW Gasser (no funds...) but I was familiar with the pits, meeting the Schley Brothers, Darrell Vittone, the Anderson Bros, and many others ..., and helping when I could...

Picture on left shows me chating with the late Jim BENTLEY and smiling Paul SCHLEY! This picture was taken at the Lion's last drag race on 1st of December 1972... Talk about nostalgic...
Note the OCIR racing jacket I was wearing... I still have it today. A collector for sure...

Another period shot below shows me helping the Anderson Brothers (Rick & Ron) at the tracks... I'm still in touch with them today (not joking...). They were very active in the scene in the good old days... Rick is still involved in racing today, as is is son Joe. Note that I was still wearing that OCIR racing jacket...
